Superseded by #4855. This layer is included in consolidated signed commit 473ac5999bc359a116855ed394413b9cd3000d24. Its source is unchanged from the green final stack tree. Review history below is retained; continue review on #4855. The original branch and backup ref are preserved. This PR was closed, not merged.

Summary

Duplicate implementations and deprecated exports made the supported API larger than its useful behavior. This removes those escape hatches and runs built-in grep through the existing code-extension search path. GitHub tooling stays in the separate git extension rather than remaining a deprecated option on code.

What changes

  • Keep grep diagnostics separate from matches and cap stderr without SIGPIPE-truncating a valid search.

  • Delete the separate 279-line sandbox grep tool. Reuse the provided grep definition with shared workspace-root handling, including the just-bash binding.

  • Reject code({ github }); configure git({ github }) instead. Git attribution remains supported, including returning null to omit a co-author.

  • Remove retired public internals and wrappers, including experimental_chatgpt; use chatgpt.

  • Keep supported curated authoring entrypoints. This does not remove GitHub support or replace sandbox isolation with host filesystem access.

Keep the code extension separately for its code tools. Move gh and GitHub sandbox-helper imports to the git extension's subpaths.

Diff size

Production source: approximately +328 / −692 lines (net −364).

Relative to this PR's actual single-commit parent; excludes tests/test support, docs, fixtures, generated reports, and compatibility-table data. Includes types, comments, and code moves.

Validation

The latest assembled tree passed all 11 workspace unit tasks (7,941 core tests), focused approval and child-session regressions, package and affected eval-fixture types, docs, formatting, lint, and invariants. The prior assembled baseline also passed the workspace build, 54-script typecheck matrix with dependencies, and real crash/promotion coverage. E2E runs only in CI; no local e2e success is claimed.

Intermediate heads are not independently gated. The tested integration base is 7a908f57c; later main changes are deferred to the planned restack. No merge or auto-merge is authorized.

feat(eve)!: consolidate pre-1.0 agent and session contracts

Consolidate the reviewed 20-layer pre-1.0 stack into #4855 without changing its tested source tree.

Includes v27 committed session facts, delivery/read contracts, ordinary function-based dynamic capabilities and JSON memos, approval provenance, public API ownership and naming, cancellation and interrupted-step recovery, client following, and consolidated capability epochs.

Review history: #5139, #5140, #5141, #5142, #5143, #5144, #5145, #5146, #5147, #4616, #5053, #5149, #5150, #5151, #5153, #5154, #5155, #5156, #5165.

Integration base remains 7a908f5; later-main integration is deferred.
