Changes

City-level granularity for traffic analytics, plus two related improvements to the analytics pages.

City analytics

  • Coolify reads the new Sentinel breakdown dimension city (value CC|subdivision|City, with optional lat/lon) and keeps the coordinates through the multi-server merge.
  • The "Countries" card becomes "Locations", with a Countries / Cities switch in the card header. The selection is saved for each browser in localStorage.
  • The globe follows the switch: country markers in Countries, city markers in Cities. Hover on a row turns the globe to it.
  • With an old Sentinel (no city data), the Cities view shows an empty state and the Countries view works as before.
  • The skeleton loaders of the global and application analytics pages match the new card.

Globe performance (a user reported that the globe is resource-heavy in Safari)

  • The globe draws only while it moves, stops while it is off-screen, uses the real device pixel ratio (maximum 2), and draws auto-rotation at 30 fps with a time-based speed.

Sortable tables

  • Top paths, Top hosts, Top applications, and the breakdown cards have sortable column headers. The sort is client-side, on the rows the page already has.
  • Error cells show the number only, a zero count is muted, breakdown cards have column headers, and rows have a hover state.

Depends on Sentinel: coollabsio/sentinel#51. Without it, Coolify shows no city data and all other behavior is the same.

Target branch: release/v4.5, because #12155 (found during this work) was merged there.

  • AI was used (please describe below)

If AI was used:

Testing

  • php artisan test --compact tests/Feature/TrafficAnalytics tests/Unit/TrafficCityHelpersTest.php: 289 tests pass.
  • Browser tests (headless Chromium): tests/v4/Browser/TrafficGeoCitiesTest.php, tests/v4/Browser/TrafficTableSortTest.php, tests/v4/Browser/TrafficAnalyticsTest.php pass.
  • Local dev instance with a Sentinel build of feat(traffic): add city analytics with coordinates sentinel#51 and synthetic traffic from public IPs: the Locations switch, city markers, hover focus, saved selection, and table sorting work on the global page. The city view also works on the application page.
  • Not tested: Safari (the globe change is measured in headless Chromium only), light mode, mobile widths, and the table changes on the application page.

@coderabbitai review

Sentinel resolves the visitor city from the client IP, so the `off` IP
mode stores no cities. Drop the `city` dimension along with `ip` from
the breakdowns in that mode, update the IP mode setting helper text to
say that disabling it also stops storing visitor cities, and extend the
global analytics test to check that the city breakdown is gone.

Review in Change Stack →

Walkthrough

Traffic analytics now includes city breakdowns and validated latitude and longitude values. Location views display country and city lists, coordinate-aware globe markers, and saved view selection. Globe rendering is visibility-aware. Application, breakdown, host, and path tables now share client-side sorting and pagination. Feature, unit, and browser tests cover the new data, visualization, and sorting behavior.

Priority: ➖ Normal

Merge Risk: 🔵 Low · up to 03e8a

City analytics and sortable tables work for ordinary use. However, sorted rows are not reordered for keyboard or screen-reader users. The Locations card can also fail in browsers that block storage. These are bounded follow-ups rather than serious failures.

Security architecture risk: 🔵 Low · up to 03e8a

City-level visitor data remains within existing authorized analytics views, with coordinate validation and disabled-mode filtering. Privacy behavior during settings changes and failed refreshes is not fully established, so some uncertainty remains.

Retained concerns
No architecture-level concerns identified.

Security review details

Security Blast Radius

  • inferred — The new data increases location granularity within existing analytics scope: a resource view consumes that resource's traffic, while global views can aggregate enabled servers owned by the current team. Inspected entry paths retain resource/server view authorization and team-scoped resource lookup; no cross-team authority expansion was established.

Trust Boundaries and Controls

  • observed — Producer-provided location values cross normalization and browser-rendering boundaries. Coordinates are range-checked at DTO ingestion; city labels use escaped Blade output, marker initialization uses JavaScript-safe serialization, and hover handlers receive numeric coordinate values rather than city-name source text.

Resilience and Maintainability Implications

  • observed — Existing response caching uses server identity and URL with a 60-second TTL, not privacy mode. Resource refresh exceptions retain the last successful component data, whereas global analytics explicitly clears data when no overview remains. These mechanisms predate this PR and now also carry city data; they do not by themselves establish unauthorized disclosure or a promised immediate-revocation violation.

Hardening Proposals

  • proposed — Define the city-data lifecycle for privacy-mode changes, including mixed-server views, cached responses, failed restarts, and failed refreshes. If immediate suppression is required, align per-server filtering, cache invalidation or versioning, and rendered-state clearing with that contract.

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
Sorted rows were ranked with CSS `order`, which left keyboard and
screen-reader order out of step with the visual order. Rows are now
appended to their parent in sorted order, but only when the order
actually changes, and pending observer records are cleared so the
move doesn't trigger another sort. The `rank()` helper and the
`:style="{ order: rank($el) }"` bindings are removed from the apps,
breakdown, hosts and paths lists.

The browser test now reads rows in DOM order and returns null if
the on-screen order differs from it.
