Changes

Two improvements to the fleet Metrics page (/metrics).

Sortable tables

  • The Servers and Hottest containers tables have sortable column headers. They use the same client-side sort as the analytics tables in feat(analytics): city-level traffic analytics, sortable tables, lighter globe #12158 (trafficTable() and the _sort-header partial). The sort uses the rows that the page already has, so it does not fetch data again.
  • Servers table: sort by name, CPU, memory, disk, load, network, or container count. The default is CPU, highest first. Offline servers have no values, so they stay last in each sort.
  • Hottest containers table: sort by container, server, or the selected metric. The sort stays when you change the metric or the time range.
  • The _sort-header partial has a new optional dir parameter, for left-aligned number columns that must sort highest first on the first click.

Enable metrics from the empty state

  • When no server has metrics, the empty state shows "Enable metrics on {server}" (one server) or "Enable metrics on N servers". This is like the traffic analytics prompt on the Analytics page.
  • The button turns on metrics and starts Sentinel on each eligible server. A server is eligible when metrics are off, it is not a build or Swarm server, and the user can update it (the update policy, so admins and owners only). Each change is in the audit log as ui.server.sentinel.updated.
  • There is no confirmation step. Enabling metrics starts Sentinel only; it does not restart the proxy or any application.
  • After the click, the servers show as offline until Sentinel sends its first data (about one minute). The toast tells the user this.

Testing

  • php artisan test --compact tests/Feature/Livewire/Fleet/MetricsPageTest.php: passes.
  • New feature tests in tests/Feature/Livewire/Fleet/MetricsDataTest.php: an owner enables metrics on all eligible servers (build servers and servers of other teams stay off); a team member cannot enable metrics. Both pass.
  • New browser test tests/v4/Browser/FleetMetricsTableSortTest.php (headless Chromium): sort by column, reverse direction, sort kept after a range change, offline server stays last, and the enable flow from the empty state. Passes.
  • tests/v4/Browser/TrafficTableSortTest.php still passes (shared sort partial).
  • Not run to the end: MetricsChartPayloadTest.php and most of MetricsDataTest.php stop responding on my machine. MetricsChartPayloadTest.php stops responding on the unchanged feat(analytics): city-level traffic analytics, sortable tables, lighter globe #12158 head too. One trace showed a real SSH call from the test setup.
  • Not tested: the pages in a running dev instance, light mode, and mobile widths.

  • I have tested all the changes thoroughly with a local development instance of Coolify and I am confident that they will work as expected when a maintainer tests them.

…le tables

- Keep the table sort after a Livewire refresh (re-rank on the morphed hook)
- Hide sort headers on small screens together with their cells
- Drop coordinates that are not finite or out of range
- Build globe markers from the same prepared city rows on first render and refresh
- Keep the Other city row last, accept lower-case country codes
- Hide the Countries/Cities switch when the card has no data
- Draw the globe spin just under two 60 Hz frames
- Servers and Hottest containers tables get sortable column headers, with
the client-side sort of the analytics tables. Offline servers stay last.
- When no server has metrics, the empty state can enable metrics on every
eligible server (not build or Swarm) that the user can update.

Only offer to enable metrics on servers that are functional, since an
unreachable server cannot start Sentinel.

In the traffic table, rows without a value for the sort key now stay
after rows with a value in both sort directions, ahead of pinned rows.

Tests fake the queue so turning metrics on does not start Sentinel over
real SSH, and cover unreachable servers and null load sorting.

Review in Change Stack →

Walkthrough

Traffic analytics now includes city breakdowns, coordinate-based globe markers, and country and city views. A shared client-side table utility adds sorting and paging to traffic and fleet tables. The fleet metrics view can enable metrics for eligible servers when no team server already has metrics enabled. Browser and feature tests cover these changes.

Priority: ➖ Normal

Merge Risk: 🟡 Moderate · up to 052ce

Sorted traffic tables look reordered, but keyboard focus and screen readers still follow the original row order. Enabling metrics on several servers can partly succeed while the page shows only an error. Address these before merging or explicitly accept them.

Security architecture risk: 🔵 Low · up to 052ce

The new fleet action retains team ownership and server-update authorization checks. Its operational scope can include every eligible server in the current team, but no broader access or privilege expansion was established. Partial completion and overlapping requests remain bounded monitoring-availability risks.

Retained concerns
No architecture-level concerns identified.

Security review details

Security Blast Radius

  • observed — One invocation can enable metrics and request Sentinel restarts across all eligible metrics-disabled servers in the current team. Build, Swarm, force-disabled, transferred-away and nonfunctional servers are excluded; each target must satisfy server-update authorization.

Trust Boundaries and Controls

  • observed — The initial Metrics route is inside the authenticated, verified route group. Independently, the mutation requires a current authenticated team and checks the user's administrative authority over each selected server's team before invoking the privileged restart path.
  • observed — Global traffic analytics continues to select current-team resources and authorized owned servers. Resource analytics authorizes the concrete resource and collects its resource UUID, so the added city breakdown follows existing tenant and resource boundaries.

Resilience and Maintainability Implications

  • inferred — Sequential repetition skips already-enabled servers. Concurrent requests can both pass eligibility selection and request duplicate restarts; the existing per-server lock serializes execution but does not deduplicate it. The pre-existing single-server action uses comparable persistence and restart ordering, so this is a bounded operational limitation rather than an established new security finding.

Hardening Proposals

  • proposed — Consider exposing per-server completion and pending-recovery status, and conditionally claiming each disabled-to-enabled transition before dispatch. This would make partial fleet completion clearer and reduce redundant restarts from overlapping requests.

…rs follow the sort

CSS order changed only the visual order. The table now moves the rows into
sorted DOM order and sorts again after each Livewire morph.
Wrap each server's enable step in its own try/catch so a failure on
one server no longer stops metrics from being enabled on the rest.
Failed servers are reported. The success toast now shows how many
servers were actually enabled, and a separate error toast lists the
servers that failed.

Add a test where a database trigger makes one server's settings
update fail.
