The Ethos suite's Tune Advisor was one line in the Flight Tuning row of Using RFSuite. It now has its own page, Radio → Ethos → Tune Advisor (docs/radio/ethos/tune-advisor.md), which covers:

  • Collecting data: which flight counts and how much each figure needs.
  • How flights are saved and combined:
    • One flight is saved per disarm, and the FC is then cleared.
    • Only the last 5 flights are kept.
    • Only flights on the newest tune are combined (P, F, B, Iterm Relax Cutoff, rate type, rates), with counts added and measurements weighted by how much data they came from.
    • A disarm during a link loss is saved on reconnect.
  • What it suggests: the rules and thresholds, and why Actual/Quick/Rotorflight rates get exact values while Betaflight/Raceflight/KISS get a percentage.
  • Applying the changes:
    • Save, one axis at a time.
    • What Save checks before it writes, the five stages, and each message it can show.
    • Why a percentage rate change, and the F change that goes with it, are not written.
    • Why the saved flights are not purged afterwards, and changes.csv.
  • Adjustment functions:
    • A mid-flight adjustment mixes two tunes.
    • Stepped adjustments and Mapped profile switches between flights are fine.
    • A Mapped gain adjustment overrides an applied value when its knob moves and at power-up.

Using RFSuite now links to the page, and the page is in the nav. It has two new X20 screenshots from the simulator.

Depends on rotorflight/rotorflight-lua-ethos-suite#2525, which adds Save to the Tune Advisor. Merge this after it.

mkdocs build passes with no warnings.

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • Documentation
    • Added a guide explaining how Tune Advisor collects flight data, provides tuning advice, applies changes, and manages tuning history.
    • Updated the Flight Tuning description to link to the guide and clarify that tuning hints can be written to the flight controller.
    • Added Tune Advisor to the FrSky Ethos documentation navigation.

The Ethos suite's Tune Advisor was one line in the Flight Tuning row. It
now has its own page under Radio > Ethos. The page covers:

- what flight it counts and how much it needs
- how each disarm is saved and how the last 5 flights are combined (only
the newest tune, counts added, measurements weighted by data)
- the rules behind each suggestion, including exact rate values versus a
  percentage
- what Save checks before it writes to the flight controller, each
message it can show, why F and a percentage rate are not applied, and
  changes.csv
- how Stepped and Mapped adjustments interact with the advisor and Save
