Support for the SNI NewMenu signal?

[eafton]

Will the systray applet ever support the NewMenu signal introduced by KDE?

See: KDE/kstatusnotifieritem@17a745a

I see that is used by QT right now. No idea if GTK even uses it. If it does someone would have to code that up, and I don't see enough importance to this to justify researching it myself. If someone wants to add such support and a test case for it I would test it though. Note that we are a very small team right now and could use more help.

@eafton do you have example of any application that emits NewMenu?

Sorry for the very late response, I did not have much time for FOSS development...

libsdl-org/SDL#15189

Yes, I am rewriting the SDL tray implementation for Linux and my code uses NewMenu.

You can test it out by compiling SDL with tests enabled and running testtray

Okay, but are there any actual applications today that use this signal? Something a normal user would sudo dnf install $foo? If KDE added this signal in 2021, but no actual application is using it (normal users are not testing libsdl), then adding it to MATE is probably pointless.

Every program that uses SDL's tray API (for example Tauon) uses it now.
