Nemo hangs indefinitely on startup when a GVFS MTP mount is stale/unresponsive #3834
Nemo hangs completely on startup (observed >3 minutes, no error message, no feedback) when a mounted MTP device (via gvfsd-mtp) has become unresponsive. This appears to be rooted in GVFS itself (see linked issue), but Nemo's blocking, silent behavior on the frontend makes it hard to diagnose - there's no indication to the user of what it's waiting on.
Steps to reproduce
Steps to reproduce:
Connect an Android device via USB, let it mount via MTP
Let the device go stale/unresponsive without formally unmounting it
Run nemo
Expected behavior
Expected behavior:
Nemo should either time out gracefully on unresponsive mounts, or at least surface a message/log entry indicating it's stuck waiting on a specific mount, instead of hanging silently.
Additional information
Actual behavior:
Nemo hangs indefinitely with no visible cause. Diagnosis required checking gio mount -l and manually force-unmounting the stale mount.
Thanks for the quick fix, @leigh123linux - and for confirming the MTP root cause matches exactly what I saw. Good call excluding mtp:///gphoto2:// outright rather than trying to rely on cancellation - matches what I'd guess from the behavior I saw (nothing, not even Ctrl+C in the terminal, got it unstuck faster than the unmount itself). Looking forward to this landing.
