How is this SDL_ttf's problem? We do not ship freetype.dll.Have you reported this to freetype at https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/freetype/freetype ?

sdl3-ttf asks FreeType to generate the image of the requested letters. FreeType extracts the glyphs from the .ttf file and creates the pixels.

issue is freetype or sdl3-ttf

I see that you ran into the issue when using vcpkg builds. Does it happen with the official SDL3_ttf release binaries from https://github.com/libsdl-org/SDL_ttf/releases/tag/release-3.2.2 ?

That would clarify the source of the issue: If it's not with SDL_ttf, it may be something in vcpkg builds (or in freetype which is less likely.)
