Telegram hosts currently lose the voice file metadata and topic close/reopen service events during parsing. Preserve these optional fields so a host can admit voice input and release its programming session when a topic closes.

Voice and lifecycle messages remain non-text; admission, downloading, transcription and lifecycle actions stay with the host. Ordinary text events keep their existing shape. No topic-deletion notification is invented.

Validation: all 246 tests pass with jq available; changed Elixir files pass formatting. The repository-wide format check reports three pre-existing files outside this change.

This is a dependency of Strategivm's thematic work sessions.

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • New Features

    • Parser events now include selected metadata for Telegram voice messages.
    • Topic closure and reopening events are now surfaced as non-text events.
    • Conversation and session metadata are preserved for voice and topic lifecycle events.
  • Documentation

    • Added guidance on host-owned validation, downloads, transcription, and session lifecycle handling.
    • Documented that these events remain non-text and that no topic-deleted event is currently provided.

📝 Walkthrough

Walkthrough

The Telegram parser now retains bounded voice-file metadata and maps topic close/reopen messages to optional non-text event fields. Tests cover topic conversation identity, metadata filtering, and omission of unrelated fields. Documentation and the changelog describe host-owned lifecycle handling.

The parser adds filtered voice metadata and topic_event fields to non-text events. Tests validate voice metadata filtering, topic event mapping, conversation identity, and field omission. Documentation describes host-owned validation, download, transcription, and session lifecycle handling.

Merge Risk: 🟡 Moderate · up to f4928

Captioned Telegram voice messages can bypass host voice handling and be treated as ordinary text. This contract mismatch should be fixed and covered by a regression test before merge.

Route captioned voice messages through the non-text path.

parse_message/3 classifies the message before adding voice metadata. For a message containing "voice" and "caption", text_from_message/1 returns {:text, caption}. The event then enters text or command routing instead of on_non_text/3, contrary to the README contract that voice events remain non-text.

Add the voice-specific clause before the text and caption clauses. Add a regression test with both fields.

Proposed fix
+  defp text_from_message(%{"voice" => _}), do: {:non_text, ""}
   defp text_from_message(%{"text" => text}) when is_binary(text), do: {:text, text}
   defp text_from_message(%{"caption" => caption}) when is_binary(caption), do: {:text, caption}
