Fixes #225

What

  • add optional min_gas_leader and min_gas_validator fields to ContractMethod
  • add type-level regression coverage for GenVM schemas that include both fields
  • keep coverage for schemas that omit both optional fields

Why

GenVM's schema generator emits these fields for write methods using @gl.public.write.min_gas(...), but genlayer-js did not expose them in ContractSchema. This is a typing/API parity fix only; it does not change the wire format or runtime behavior.

Testing done

  • added type regression coverage in tests/client.test-d.ts
  • addressed and resolved the CodeRabbit review findings
  • upstream GitHub Actions are currently awaiting approval to run for this fork PR

Decisions made

  • keep both fields optional so existing contract schemas remain valid
  • use number to match the schema values currently emitted by GenVM
  • avoid runtime changes because the issue is limited to SDK typing parity

Checks

  • I have tested this code through upstream GitHub Actions (workflow approval is still pending)
  • I have reviewed my own PR
  • I have created an issue for this PR
  • I have set a descriptive PR title compliant with conventional commits

Reviewing tips

The change is intentionally small. The key review points are the ContractMethod type and the type fixture that covers both presence and absence of the optional fields.

User facing release notes

ContractSchema now types GenVM minimum-gas metadata for leader and validator execution when those values are present.

This PR targeted main, which is only the default/static branch.

I retargeted it to v2-dev, the active development branch. Pushes to v2-dev automatically fast-forward main.

📝 Walkthrough

Walkthrough

The ContractMethod type now includes optional numeric fields for minimum leader and validator gas. A type-check test verifies that both fields can be read as number | undefined.

ContractMethod adds optional min_gas_leader and min_gas_validator fields. The type-check test verifies access to both fields as optional numbers.

Priority: ⬇️ Low

Estimated code review effort: 2 (Simple) | ~10 minutes

Change: Bug fix · Severity of issue fixed: Low

Suggested reviewers: muncleuscles

Merge Risk: 🔵 Low · up to 74bbd

The API currently behaves as intended, but its test does not protect the optional-field contract, and the new test import misses the required alias. These are bounded follow-ups, not evidence of a current runtime failure.

Security Architecture Review

Security architecture risk: ⚪ Minimal · up to 74bbd

The change adds two optional numeric properties to a public TypeScript interface. It does not introduce executable gas enforcement, new privileges, or runtime behavior. No material security risk was identified in the changed surface.

Retained concerns
No architecture-level concerns identified.

Security review details

Security Blast Radius

  • inferred — The direct exposure is the public SDK type contract. The changed declaration provides no executable mechanism for modifying leader or validator gas policy, acquiring privileges, or mutating shared state.

Trust Boundaries and Controls

  • inferred — Representing the metadata in an interface does not itself validate external values or grant them authority. No new runtime trust transition or control bypass is introduced by the inspected additions.

Add a fixture that omits both gas fields.

The current fixture supplies min_gas_leader and min_gas_validator, so it still type-checks if either field becomes required. Add a ContractSchema fixture whose method omits both fields to preserve coverage of their optional status.
