Daily Fro Bot Report — 2026-10-16 (UTC)

Snapshot: 2026-10-16 04:12 UTC. Evidence links and recommended next steps; categories 5–8 are report-only. Workflow run.

Run Summary

Category Status Notes
Errored PRs ✅ Six current heads have no failing checks; legacy statuses success. Remediation evidence. Other merge blockers are not CI failures.
Security ⚠️ Remediation: no eligible critical/high package fix; three lower-severity dependency alerts and permission follow-up remain.
Control-Plane Integrity ⚠️ Remediation: pins, strip-only and repository guards pass; CodeQL/Scorecard permission hygiene remains.
Code Quality ✅ Remediation: bootstrap/types/lint/tests passed; 5,358 tests passed, three todo. No repair PR produced.
Oversight ❔ 40 public repositories examined; alert endpoint 403/404s and empty check sources prevent complete assurance. Findings and ranked hotspots below.
Cross-Project Intelligence ❔ All manifest entries resolved and accessible entries scanned. 32 public tracked source sets; two contain no automation/guidance/manifest evidence. Coverage partial for pattern evidence.
Progressive Improvement ❔ TypeScript/Vitest major drift; old CLI test todos and missing Renovate validation gate. Latest Main execution is historical; runtime workflow guard unavailable. One proposal covered by draft PR.

Errored PRs

Today’s remediation handoff checked all six open heads, including both check runs and legacy statuses. Current recheck: #3993, #3991, #3989, #3988, #3987, #3984; 146 check runs, no failed/cancelled/timed-out/action-required conclusion, all combined legacy statuses success. No repair PR or branch modification was produced. Next step: review the existing PRs against merge requirements.

Security

Remediation evidence and advisory sources: no qualifying critical/high dependency or Actions repair; override-floor checker passed. Existing Dependabot #59, #77, #79 remain moderate/moderate/low; live audit also found the second moderate fast-uri advisory. Scorecard’s high aggregate is not a new high-severity package advisory. Next step: let Renovate own these lower-severity updates; verify patched ranges and the override audit before merging.

Control-Plane Integrity

Remediation evidence: 146 SHA-pinned references in 33 YAML files; 74 production scripts pass strip-only checks; wiki/privacy and branch-protection guards remain enforced. Follow up on unnecessary CodeQL actions: read/packages: read and Scorecard’s unused default read-all; preserve the intentional credential-isolated private-leak setup. No workflow edit was made.

Code Quality

Separate remediation pass verification: pnpm bootstrap, pnpm check-types, pnpm lint, pnpm test exited 0; 102 test files, 5,358 passed tests and three todo. This observation pass did not rerun install/build-writing wrappers or re-analyze categories 1–4.

Oversight

Enumeration: paginated authenticated user/repos with owner/collaborator/organization-member affiliations, plus paginated user/orgs and each returned organization’s repositories: bfra-me, psware-ps2, pro-actions. At least read access (permissions.pull) defines scope; union deduplicated. All enumeration calls completed; the psware-ps2 listing returned zero repositories. This public report contains public findings only, covering 40 repositories, including archived repositories; no individual finding was modified.

Snapshot counts: 18 open issues created within 24h; 83 issues inactive >30d; 136 open PRs, 105 aged >7d and 0 stale >14d; 6 unassigned bug-labeled issues. PR inactivity is measured from the maximum PR update, paginated issue timeline (comments/reviews/state events), review submission and commit dates—not creation time. Activity sources completed for every listed PR.

Top three hotspots: ranked by distinct linked qualifying findings in this snapshot: each open PR, each new/stale/unassigned-bug issue (deduplicated across issue categories), each latest failed check identity, and each open alert. Different alert systems can represent related root causes; these are finding counts, not unique vulnerabilities. Unknown sources add no score.

Latest failed checks on current default-branch SHA: deduplicated by app + check name, highest check ID; older failed attempts superseded by a newer same-identity check are excluded. These include scheduled/operational jobs, not only push CI. Cancelled sibling jobs are not counted as independent failures. Next step for each linked job: inspect its failure log and current workflow/source; confirm the cause before rerunning or proposing a minimal fix.

Could not verify check health (empty check runs and legacy statuses): fro-bot/tokentoilet, marcusrbrown/encode-2024-q3-grp14-jobseeker-ai, marcusrbrown/gala-chain-code, pro-actions/peter-murray_workflow-application-token-action. Next: establish whether CI is intentionally absent or enable an appropriate check through normal review; empty is not green. Latest legacy statuses on other examined heads contain no failure/error.

New issues (last 24h, still open) — next step for every linked item: triage against existing work, establish scope and assign ownership.

Unassigned bugs — next step for every linked item: assign an owner and establish reproduction/acceptance evidence.

Open PR inventory — creation age / latest-activity inactivity (days)

Next step for every linked PR: review current checks and unblock the branch; prioritize security fixes and let Renovate own routine bumps. A = age >7d; S = inactivity >14d. None is S.

Stale issue inventory — >30d since update

Stale issues — next step for every linked item: confirm relevance and an acceptance target, then prioritize or let a maintainer retire it.

Security alert inventory and endpoint coverage

D = Dependabot, C = code scanning, S = secret scanning. Counts are open alert records. ❔403/❔404 are access/feature/archival/no-analysis gaps, not zero. Next step for each linked endpoint: triage accessible critical/high findings first; verify feature/token capability for unavailable sources without blanket credential expansion.

All three endpoint families were attempted for each enumerated repository. Non-success endpoints above keep the category ❔; no unavailable source was interpreted as clean.

Cross-Project Intelligence

Coverage ❔ partial for pattern evidence. Every entry of the tracked manifest was resolved, including node-ID entries, and every accessible entry’s workflow files plus available root guidance/action/package manifests were scanned at a pinned default-branch head. All 32 public tracked entries were accessible and scanned; public entries inaccessible/unscanned: None. fro-bot/fro-bot.github.io and fro-bot/systematic returned no workflows/guidance/manifests in the selected source set, so no automation-pattern assurance is claimed for them. No metadata changes.

  • marcusrbrown/systematic source — Prove the suite executed, not merely that the job is green. The Host Contract job rejects malformed path-filter output, builds before module-scope availability gates, and validates expected files/skips/pass evidence even after suite failure. Adopt an explicit expected-execution contract for critical automation integration checks here.

  • bfra-me/renovate-action source — Separate ordinary tests from credential-bearing action self-tests. Its local-action dry-run self-test requires an owner default-branch push plus a relevant path change. Adopt that trusted-event boundary when adding live smoke checks; keep untrusted PR tests credential-free. This is source-shape evidence, not proof a recent self-test ran.

  • marcusrbrown/systematic source — Assert the actual host loading contract under plain Node: exact entry exports, callable plugin factory and nonempty loaded assets. Apply the same principle to distributed control-plane entrypoints: compilation alone does not prove consumer-load compatibility; preserve the existing strip-only and committed-build checks.

Public tracked-source coverage (pinned heads)

Progressive Improvement

Tool drift: authoritative npm registry latest, major drift included, compared with package.json. Renovate owns all routine upgrades; no bump PR was opened.

Tool Pinned Registry latest Next step
eslint 10.12.0 10.12.0 None.
prettier 3.9.1 3.9.10 Patch-only; below more-than-minor threshold.
typescript 6.0.3 7.0.2 Major drift: Renovate compatibility review, including imported compiler APIs.
vitest 4.1.11 5.0.5 Major drift: Renovate review runner/coverage/Stryker compatibility together.

CI and conventions: Main retains lint, types, tests, committed-build, strip-only, actionlint, wiki-authority and mutation guards. Latest Main run succeeded October 11 at the unchanged main SHA; it is historical, not fresh execution today. #3793 remains the missing Renovate-config validation gate, and #3792 the reusable-workflow dependency grouping gap. The live failed operational jobs are linked under Oversight. #3979 remains the workflow/tooling follow-up; guard availability is still unavailable in this runner, distinct from the repository’s passing wiki/privacy guards.

Stale annotations: no actionable production TODO/FIXME found in scripts or workflow/config source; prompt text and a test fixture are not backlog annotations. Three executable todos remain at scripts/wiki-lint-issues.test.ts:499–501 (version rejection and CLI output counters), introduced May 17, approximately 152 days old. Next: add a testable CLI seam and behavior-level assertions, preserving the import guard and no-write-on-invalid-input contract.

Compounding pipeline: one open learning proposal, #3985, age 4.1d. Approved automation author fro-bot[bot] has the open docs/drafted-solutions PR #3989, age 3.6d, whose body explicitly says Closes #3985; current checks are non-failing. Zero uncovered proposals: neither >14d nor two-or-more-uncovered stall rule triggers. Next: human review/manual merge of the authored learning. Metrics #3674 was not used as evidence of authorship.

Gateway rollout tracker — awareness only. #3512 compared with all 29 Project 1 items, current source/release/deploy evidence and fresh anonymous health:

Claim Issue body Project / latest rollout evidence
Producer defects agent #1736, #1737, #1739, #1740 Open All four Project items Done; issues closed. Source completion is not authenticated production acceptance.
Dashboard defects dashboard #583–#585 Open All three Project items Done; #585 fixed by #623, merged October 15 04:26 UTC.
Markdown feature #586 Open Project Todo: consistent.
Overall verification Unchecked acceptance boxes; issue Open Project In Progress / waiting: consistent; authenticated acceptance still unverified.
Contract 1.8.0 Fresh public health reports 1.11.0; operator deployment evidence reports gateway v0.122.1.
Dashboard deployed version 2026.10.15 Successful 2026.10.34 deployment ended October 15 09:24 UTC; dedicated tracker evidence confirms its source descends from #623. Earlier 2026.10.28 deployment was cancelled.
Rollback requirement Volume snapshot plus paired images after migration Current gateway guidance requires snapshot restore only when crossing the one-way ownership migration; rollback between releases at/after v0.118.2 reverses the image pair.

Next: the dedicated Gateway Rollout Tracker workflow should reconcile body/version/defect/rollback prose. Keep question answer/skip, approval decisions, reconnect settlement, notification jumps, checkout details, cancellation, logout/CSRF and privacy/security acceptance open until signed-in evidence exists. Anonymous health establishes only the advertised contract, not authenticated SSE or deployed-image identity. No tracker comments or Project edits were made.

Needs Human Attention

  1. Restore failed operational paths using the existing evidence above. For .github/workflows/poll-invitations.yaml and .github/workflows/survey-repo.yaml, inspect the linked failed jobs; the observation snapshot establishes failure, not root cause. Diagnose logs before selecting a minimal reversible fix, and distinguish terminal failure from subsequent recovery. Verify the affected workflow plus repository checks; do not suppress failures, broaden credentials, or retry ingestion without determining whether a prior write succeeded. Reuse #3979 for overlapping workflow/handoff defects.

  2. Permission and lower-severity advisory follow-ups: today’s remediation handoff supplies exact .github/workflows/codeql-analysis.yaml, .github/workflows/scorecard.yaml, pnpm-lock.yaml and pnpm-workspace.yaml paths, candidate changes, patched ranges and verification. Preserve required token wiring, per the token-wiring learning; authorization comes from scope, not token omission. Routine dependency remediation stays with Renovate.

  3. Close the CLI behavior-test gap: scripts/wiki-lint-issues.ts has an environment-bound CLI entrypoint; scripts/wiki-lint-issues.test.ts:499–501 defers schema/fingerprint rejection and GITHUB_OUTPUT counts. Smallest candidate: injectable CLI seam preserving the import guard, then assert invalid input produces no API writes and successful counts reach a temporary output. Run focused Vitest and required types/lint/tests; run mutation guards if its configured trigger set is touched. Do not delete the todos to hide missing coverage.

  4. Reconcile rollout claims through the dedicated tracker: use the two-value matrix above in Track cross-repo Gateway operator control-surface rollout #3512 and the runbook’s migration-crossing distinction. Do not equate Project Done, released, deployed and accepted; no daily-path tracker/Project mutation. Verify source ancestry, successful deploy and authenticated acceptance separately.

  5. Land the existing Renovate validation design: #3793 and #3792 already own preset validation/grouping gaps. Scope the validator to the shipped Renovate inputs and cover reusable workflow dependency types; preserve SHA pinning and required gates. Verify validator output, workflow shape/action references and repository checks in the eventual implementation.

Delivery: report-only; no new durable wiki fact beyond existing captured rollout/CI lessons warranted another edit. Existing wiki/metadata changes were preserved byte-for-byte; scratch collection/report files are removed after publication. No metadata, workflow, prompt, dependency or knowledge file was changed by this invocation. The workflow guard is unavailable; no unavailable guard calls were retried. Category 1–4 verification is credited only to the linked remediation pass, not this observation pass.

    Remediation handoff — 2026-10-17 (UTC)

No eligible minimal repair found. Main remains clean at 898209884dee4b338cc73a78cb774a9d3949466a; no branch, commit, push, or repair PR was needed. This comment hands categories 1–4 to the subsequent observation pass.

    Run Summary

    Category Status Evidence
Errored PRs ✅ Six heads: 146 check runs inspected, no failing conclusions; all six combined legacy statuses successful.
Security ⚠️ No high/critical dependency or applicable Actions advisory; three moderate and one low npm advisory remain. Override-floor checker exits 0.
Control-Plane Integrity ⚠️ All 146 third-party references across 33 workflow/action YAML files have full SHA pins and version comments; all 169 script files parse in strip-only mode. Permission hygiene remains deferred.
Code Quality ✅ Bootstrap, types, lint, and tests passed: 102 test files, 5,358 tests passed, three existing todo tests.

    Errored PRs

Checked #3993, #3991, #3989, #3988, #3987, and #3984 through both /commits/{sha}/check-runs and /commits/{sha}/status using gh. All are mergeable; merge-state blocking is distinct from CI failure. No PR branch was checked out or executed. No security-update PR needing repair was found.

    Security

Sources: repository Dependabot/code-scanning alerts, live npm registry advisory data through pnpm audit, and paginated GitHub Advisory Database high/critical Actions records. Advisory ranges were checked across major lines; routine latest-version/major drift was not assessed in this remediation pass.

    • Dependabot alerts 59, 77, and 79 concern transitive development dependencies: @humanfs/node, fast-uri, and katex. The live audit additionally reports GHSA-hrr3-gc8f-f4qj for fast-uri: three moderate advisories and one low, zero high/critical.
    • Code-scanning alert 9 is a high-rated Scorecard aggregate of those lower-severity advisories, not another high-severity package vulnerability. The other open alerts are Scorecard policy findings.
    • Upstream GitHub release tags resolve the CodeQL pin to v4.38.0 and download-artifact pin to v8.0.1; both are outside their published affected ranges. No applicable high/critical Actions advisory found.

    Control-Plane Integrity

Wiki authority still requires an authorized bot and the same-repository data head. The private-leak gate uses main code, reads PR diffs as data, scopes its resolver credential separately, and posts a fail-closed legacy status. Promotion retains both privacy gates. Their regression tests passed in the full suite.

Live main protection enforces admins, stale-review dismissal, approvals, and required wiki/privacy/mutation checks; force pushes and deletions are disabled. The active data ruleset restricts branch creation/update to the App bypass. No guard was changed.

    Needs Human Attention

    1. Permission hygiene: .github/workflows/codeql-analysis.yaml:27–31 grants packages: read and actions: read; this public repository has no private packs in .github/codeql/codeql-config.yml. Candidate fix: verify upstream requirements, remove unnecessary grants, retain contents: read and security-events: write. .github/workflows/scorecard.yaml:19 declares read-all, but its sole job overrides that default; this is not effective job-wide read-all. Narrow the unused default in a reviewed change. Verify with actionlint and actual CodeQL/Scorecard runs. No failing run justifies modifying these workflows in this pass.
    2. Lower-severity dependency updates remain Renovate-owned: pnpm-lock.yaml resolves affected versions; published patched thresholds are @humanfs/node >=0.16.8, fast-uri >=4.1.5, and katex >=0.18.2. pnpm-workspace.yaml:16 still allows fast-uri >=4.1.3. Verify future updates with pnpm audit, node scripts/check-override-floors.ts, and all four required commands. Do not open an autonomous moderate/low version-bump PR under this high/critical-only contract.
    3. Execution tooling: the Systematic workflow guard is unavailable. Repository verification above completed independently; this does not indicate failure of wiki/privacy protections.

Preserve the intentional no-cache setup in .github/workflows/check-private-leak.yaml. Credential presence and scope were evaluated separately, following docs/solutions/workflow-issues/required-github-token-for-agent-steps-2026-06-22.md. No knowledge or metadata files were modified. Existing findings reuse this report thread; no duplicate issue was created.

Run 39000036705. Categories 5–8 and daily-report publication remain with the separate observation pass.
