Make agent runs inspectable and recoverable through structured execution history, explicit lifecycle state, scoped failure/retry policies, versioned checkpoints, and processor recovery. Agree on state/event vocabulary first; history and error handling can then progress as independently useful deliverables, followed by durable restoration and workload integration. Separate execution history from model context; retain scratchpad as a readable rendering. Initial scope excludes full event sourcing, automatic context summarization/retrieval, remote Batch API reattachment, nested child-agent recovery, and application completion-marker reconciliation. No exactly-once external-effects guarantee. Deliverables: #50 explicit execution state; #8 structured history and scratchpad rendering; #42 failure classification and scoped retries; #49 checkpoints and warm-start; #51 processor recovery. Sequence: establish #50 vocabulary with #8/#42, implement #8/#42 against that contract, then #49, followed by #51.
