i build things no one asked for.
usually because something was annoying enough to fix.

I'm Soh Hong Yu, a Computer Science student at the National University of Singapore, previously from Singapore Polytechnic's Applied AI & Analytics programme.
I like taking an idea from “wouldn't it be funny if…” to something people can actually use. That usually means building the whole thing: interfaces, APIs, automations, AI integrations, and whatever else gets it working.
Previously, I built cloud-compliance tooling at GovTech Singapore. I'm now working with AI Singapore on youth AI programmes and partnerships, and I still find myself building side projects and joining hackathons.
| project | what it does |
|---|---|
| Enchanted Notebook | Write a question by hand and watch a magical notebook answer it. |
| FilmGram | An experiment in making video editing less of a chore with AI. |
| PickMe | Stress-tests product content against AI shopping assistants. LifeHack 2026 track winner. |
| Singen | Turns financial information into AI-generated videos. PolyFinTech API Hackathon champion. |
| Overcooked IRL | A real-world multiplayer game built for a youth camp. |
Some projects are hackathon prototypes; others are tools people actually use. I enjoy both.

I'm especially interested in applied AI, full-stack product engineering, automation, and developer tools. Less interested in training models for the sake of it; more interested in making the whole system work.
- I help run youth and community programmes, including volunteering with BW Monastery.
- I've organised student communities at Singapore Polytechnic and advised Singapore Youth AI.
- I used to maintain armoured vehicles during National Service. Yes, alongside the coding.
- I have a habit of entering hackathons and leaving with another side project.
