How to reproduce

1. Load real filaments into the four designated spool holder positions, 1 through 4 on the physical machine. (This step is necessary in case of RFID reading the spools.)
2. Select or create 4 corresponding filament profiles in Snapmaker Orcaslicer.
3. When two or more of the filaments in the application are incompatible in dithering (mixing), the generic virtual filament profiles (standard 50/50) will appear with a red exclamation point within a red circle in the virtual filament name space.
4. Clicking the name space or selecting "edit" from the sub menu will cause the filament profile pop-up to appear.
5. The warning label appears near the top below the tabbed selections. "Filament X and Filament Y cannot be mixed. Please select filament of the same type."

Actual results

When one filament is incompatible (e.g. PLA is incompatible with PETG) with the other three filaments, Color Mixing shows three of the virtual filaments are incompatible. Any Color Mixing filaments that contain two incompatible filaments will be marked with a warning.

Incompatible filaments should never appear in the Color Mixing section.

Expected results

Since incompatible filaments are detected upon first instance of adding real filaments, these incompatible should not even appear in the Color Mixing virtual filaments.

The number assigned to a Color Mixing virtual filament should begin with the first compatible Color Mixing profile and then so on. Incompatible Color Mixing should not be given a profile or or allowed to be saved.

Here are the expected steps:

1. Load real filaments into the four designated spool holder positions, 1 through 4 on the physical machine. (This step is necessary in case of RFID reading the spools.)

4. Only compatible filament Color Mixes appear.
5. If you try to create a new Color Mixing virtual filament using incompatible filaments. The warning will appear in the Edit Mix pop-up and the OK button will stayed greyed out (unavailable). This means you will not be able to create an incompatible virtual filament.

Additionally, the warning needs to be changed to reflect some filaments are compatible with different filament types, such as PETG is compatible with PCTG.

Change the warning to read: "Filament X and Filament Y cannot be mixed. Please select compatible filaments." filament of the same type."

I created PR #879 to address the error message to reflect compatibility between different types of filaments. You do not need only same type filaments for Color Mixing to work.

Conversely, some users have asked not to be forbidden from mixing dissimilar materials. To permit the possibility of making "metamaterials" by layering different ones (like a flexible with a stiff one to make a springy one).

A strong warning certainly seems prudent, but disallowing it completely may be a bit strong.

I don't disagree with your comments. However, I am coming from the viewpoint of a new 3d printing user or a new U1 user. We have an advanced tab for well, advanced settings, and I think setting Color Mixing - or for that matter, Snorca itself, should have an overall advanced setting where all the controls are revealed and "admin" privileges are allowed. So if there is an "Advanced User" function, then you can manually override non-compatible filament mixes.

But for the rest of the users, mixing non-compatible filaments should be a no-no and not even shown to the user.

Oh, I meant to say I totally agree with you.

It would be much preferred to warn the user of mixing dissimilar materials and suggest they proceed with caution than to simply not allow it.
