Why

There was no way to see which release is installed, e.g. to check whether an update went through.

Change

  • New AppVersionText: shows "Version 1.2.0", from BuildConfig.VERSION_NAME, in a small muted label.
  • It appears in two places:
    • at the bottom of the sign-in screen, which is visible even when you can't get past sign-in;
    • in the account dialog on Home (the person icon), under "Signed in as …".

Tests

  • AppVersionTextTest: shows a given version, and defaults to the build's version.
  • SignInScreenTest.signInScreen_showsTheInstalledVersion.
  • AccountButtonTest.accountButton_dialogShowsTheInstalledVersion.
  • ./gradlew ktfmtCheck check: BUILD SUCCESSFUL.

Shipping it needs a version bump (e.g. 1.2.1) and a tag. Phones on 1.2.0 will then be required to update.

The app gave no way to tell which release is installed, so you could
not tell whether an update went through. "Version x.y.z" now shows at
the bottom of the sign-in screen and in the account dialog on Home.
