The filters section jumps straight into using a Gaussian kernel. I am wondering whether this lesson can be improved by first introducing a 3x3 mean filter, matching the bioimagebook video linked in the lesson. EDIT: I see now that the napari-skimage plugin does not provide a mean filter
Also, the values in the example kernel (see picture below) used in the Filters section of the Filters and Thresholding lesson, shows a kernel that at first sight looks Gaussian but the values do not add up to 1, which was a little confusing to me.
