Use floatingTags config instead of manual major tag script in release workflow #195

Closed

Description

@BryanFRD

The release.yml workflow has a dedicated update-major-tag job that manually moves the vX tag on each release:

MAJOR="v$(echo "${TAG#v}" | cut -d. -f1)"
git tag -f "$MAJOR"
git push origin "refs/tags/$MAJOR" --force

FerrFlow natively supports this via the floatingTags config option. Adding "floatingTags": ["major"] to .ferrflow would handle this automatically during ferrflow release, removing the need for the extra job.

Changes needed

  1. Add "floatingTags": ["major"] to .ferrflow workspace config
  2. Remove the update-major-tag job from release.yml

This also supports "minor" level if needed (e.g. v2.6 pointing to latest v2.6.x).

    Already done. The floatingTags config was added in 62cfba5 (PR #189), and the update-major-tag job was removed from release.yml in 3ded13a.
