Summary

Leverages the sibling insightnet-ai (InsightNet Explorer) project to improve ForeSITE_Website:

  • Publications: retire the Manubot/Google-Scholar pipeline; _cite/insightnet.py now pulls ForeSITE's ~1,150 publications weekly from InsightNet Explorer's public dataset (ORCID, Europe PMC, PubMed, arXiv, Crossref), bolding ForeSITE-member authors. Featured papers are preserved. The Publications page now has a Featured section plus a full, searchable, year-grouped list.
  • Branding: re-theme to the official ForeSITE colors (crimson #a60f2d, gold #fdb921, gray #4e4e4e), add a brand bar, real ForeSITE logos/favicon, and a brand-gray footer.
  • Member metadata: one-time import (_cite/import_members.py, not run in CI) fills in missing ORCID/Scholar/LinkedIn/GitHub/Bluesky/home-page links and empty bios from InsightNet's foresite.toml, without touching anything already set.
  • PR previews: on-pull-request.yml now builds the site (safely, via pull_request not pull_request_target), posts a downloadable artifact link via CDCgov/cfa-actions/post-artifact (works for fork PRs), and deploys a live /preview/pr-N/ site for same-repo PRs.

Verification

  • python _cite/insightnet.py --local ../insightnet-ai/data and the network-fetch path both produce 1,161 citations (1,154 ForeSITE works + 7 featured fallbacks), all 19 featured ids present, ~97% of entries have a bolded ForeSITE-member author.
  • python _cite/import_members.py updates 37 of 64 _members/*.md files, front matter only, no existing values changed; 1 researcher (Olivia Banks) has no matching page yet.
  • All touched YAML/SCSS files validated for syntax; no leftover references to removed Manubot files.
  • ⚠️ Could not run a local Jekyll build in this sandbox (system Ruby 2.6.10, no Docker) — this PR's own new build + preview jobs are the real end-to-end check; please review the preview link/artifact once CI runs.

🤖 Generated with Claude Code

- Replace the Manubot citation pipeline (_cite/cite.py + plugins, Google
Scholar API key) with _cite/insightnet.py, which pulls ForeSITE's
publications from the InsightNet Explorer dataset (data/works.json +
works-details.json), bolding ForeSITE-member authors. Featured papers
in _data/sources.yaml are preserved, falling back to the previous
citations.yaml record if InsightNet hasn't collected that work yet.
- research/index.md now shows Featured publications plus a searchable,
year-grouped "All Publications" list (~1,150 entries) with credit to
  InsightNet as the data source.
- Re-theme the site to the official ForeSITE brand (crimson #a60f2d,
gold #fdb921, gray #4e4e4e), add a brand bar, ForeSITE logos/favicon,
a brand-gray footer, and swap the font stack to a Montserrat-based
fallback for the (unlicensed) Proxima Nova logo face. Most component
styles already read theme CSS variables, so only -theme.scss,
  header.scss and footer.scss needed changes.
- One-time import (_cite/import_members.py, not wired into CI) fills in
  missing ORCID/Scholar/LinkedIn/GitHub/Bluesky/home-page links and empty
  bios in _members/*.md from InsightNet's config/organizations/
foresite.toml, without touching any existing values. Add a bluesky
link type and fill in empty team-role descriptions in _data/types.yaml.
- Rework PR previews: on-pull-request.yml now builds with `pull_request`
(not `pull_request_target`, which unsafely gave fork PRs write access),
uploads the built site as an artifact, posts a link to it via
CDCgov/cfa-actions/post-artifact (works for fork PRs too), and deploys
  a live /preview/pr-N/ site via rossjrw/pr-preview-action for same-repo
PRs. Delete the unused build-preview.yaml. Move the weekly citation
refresh to Monday 12:00 UTC, after InsightNet's Sunday refresh.
- Fix the corrupted `twitter:` value in _config.yaml.

Thanks for the PR, @gvegayon! The built site is ready for download 👉 here 👈

Opening index.html directly from disk won't load styles or images. Unzip it and serve the folder instead:

python3 -m http.server --directory site-preview 8000

then open http://localhost:8000. If a live preview link is posted below, you can use that instead.

(The artifact expires on 2026-10-09T23:48:02Z. You can re-generate it by re-running the workflow here.)

…und)

header has class="background", and .background:before (background.scss)
already uses that pseudo-element for the decorative header-image overlay.
Since only one ::before rule can win per element, the brand-bar gradient
was being silently overridden and never painted. Move it to ::after,
which is unused on header.

The artifact was built with the live-preview baseurl
(/ForeSITE_Website/preview/pr-N), so its root-absolute CSS/JS/image links
don't resolve when the zip is opened locally and the site renders
unstyled. Build a second copy with an empty baseurl for the download,
keep the preview-path build for the gh-pages live preview, and tell
reviewers to serve the unzipped folder with python's http.server.
