Adds an algorithm that detects aquatic plants and algae in water bodies from Sentinel-2 L2A imagery as an openEO UDP, combining the Floating Algae Index (FAI), a water-plants index (red/red-edge based), and NDWI/moisture-based water body detection, with Braaten-Cohen-Yang cloud masking to filter out false positives.

The openEO process is adapted from the Aquatic Plants and Algae (APA) Custom Script Detector evalscript developed by the University of Girona. Water and vegetation are rendered on a blue-to-yellow scale — blue for clear water, turquoise/green/yellow for increasing aquatic vegetation density, and brown/purple for turbid, sediment-laden water — while land areas and clouds keep a brightened true-color appearance.

The openEO process is running on Copernicus Data Space over the spatial extent of Venice Lagoon, Italy on 2025-06-01 to 2025-08-31.
