Contemplative Agent is an autonomous AI agent framework (Python CLI) with a
longitudinal research purpose. This file states which licence covers which
part of the project family, and where third-party material sits. It does not
replace the LICENSE files.

All code, tests, scripts, prompts under config/prompts/, documentation and the
bundled constitution/identity/skill templates in this repository are released
under the MIT License. See LICENSE. SPDX-License-Identifier: MIT.

Third-party material inside the MIT scope
-----------------------------------------

config/templates/*/constitution/*.md are constitution presets. Each file's
header names the tradition it was synthesized from (for example the Stoic,
Kantian, Rawlsian or pragmatist traditions). Those traditions are ideas, not
quotations; the wording is the project's own.

config/templates/contemplative/constitution/contemplative-axioms.md reproduces
the constitutional clauses of Appendix C of:

  Laukkonen, R., Inglis, F., Chandaria, S., Sandved-Smith, L., Lopez-Sola, E.,
  Hohwy, J., Gold, J., & Elwood, A. (2025). Contemplative Artificial
  Intelligence. arXiv:2504.15125.

The clauses are quoted verbatim, as a short excerpt, so that the paper's
condition can be reproduced and compared with the amended text the agent
evolves (ADR-0002). The excerpt remains the work of its authors and stays
under whatever terms the paper carries; the MIT License of this repository
does not extend to it. Cite the paper when you reuse the clauses.
