Three widely-used rOpenSci ecology packages are missing from the Bioinformatics and Biostatistics section. All three are commonly used alongside the existing ape entry for phylogenetic and ecological research.

vegan — Community ecology: ordination (NMDS, CCA, RDA), diversity indices, and ecological null models. One of the most-cited R packages in ecology literature. https://cran.r-project.org/web/packages/vegan/index.html

taxize — Taxonomic toolbelt for querying ITIS, EOL, GBIF, NCBI, and 15+ other taxonomic data sources from a single R interface. Part of the rOpenSci suite. https://github.com/ropensci/taxize

rgbif — R interface to the GBIF API, providing access to occurrence records for 2.4 billion specimens — the primary open biodiversity database for ecological and biogeographic analyses. https://github.com/ropensci/rgbif

All three packages are rOpenSci-reviewed, actively maintained, and appear extensively in peer-reviewed ecological research.

Three widely-used rOpenSci ecology packages are missing from the section:

- vegan (518 stars): the standard R package for community ecology —
ordination (PCA, NMDS, CCA), diversity indices, and ecological null
models. One of the most-cited R packages in ecology journals.
- taxize (299 stars): taxonomic toolbelt for querying ITIS, EOL, GBIF,
NCBI, and 15+ other taxonomic data sources. Part of the rOpenSci suite.
- rgbif (173 stars): R interface to the GBIF API, which holds occurrence
records for 2.4 billion specimens — the primary open biodiversity
database for ecological and biogeographic analyses.

All three are rOpenSci-reviewed packages with active maintenance and
broad use in peer-reviewed research.

Friendly bump — just wanted to see if this is still on your radar. Let me know if any changes would help move it forward!
