where is the video data stored during playback?
when i skip a few seconds back it has to be downloaded again.
If network disconnects the player window stops immediately.
always have to replay via history.
newpipe has none of these problems.

In the RAM, but not all parts of the video are cached, only about one minute. You can change the buffering goal in the settings.
