OS support request Amithlon (2001-2005)

Hoi V86 devs,

Build around a QNX/Linux micro-kernel Amithlon/AmigaXL boots from FreeDOS into a low level emulated AmigaOS.

The project was abandoned about 20 years ago yet it was created to run on modest hardware.

The internet archive hosts the installation CDRom (https://archive.org/details/amithlon).

I used a well documented guide (http://amithlon.snkbitten.com/) to get Amithlon to run.

I was very impressed after installing Amithlon in VirtualBox on a Win7 2008 Laptop.

I tried to achieve the same result with QEMU and the basic version seemed to work also.

QEMU parameters used: "C:\Program Files\qemu\qemu-system-i386.exe" -m 512M -vga std -hda "C:\Users\PTAH\Desktop\v86-hda-amithlon.raw"

Now I tried to get the harddisk image to work in V86 and it seems to boot al the way yet VGA gfx are not visible which is a real showstopper.

Included the harddisk image I used for reference:

Could you please give some advice to get Amithlon to work in V86 or add a feature to V86?

Amithlon would be a great candidate to add to the already impressive V86 arsenal of OSes imho.

Weekly update: well not much news overhere yet I had to prove Amithlon is booting all the way..

Since the grey background (Workbench) and Mouse (Yes) are strong indicators for a successfull "boot all the way" I think it is better to prove it with the low-level Amithlon Reset Key Combination LCTRL+LWIN+RWIN which functions as it should.

Now we can say for sure that the V86 virtual machine is capable of booting into a MC68040 machine which we know from the QEMU test with the same hardfile..

What I am going to try is to send some Amithlon debug info to the serial port..

If the serial port works then we have a kind of "headless" Amithlon which is more than nothing..

Therefore I am going to prepare a special bootimage if the basic VESA mode won't show the bouncing ball after loadlin @amithlon..

For now it still feels like the V86-VGA is missing some fundamental gfx layer..

Well that's it for now, I 'll keep on experimenting and will report any findings from my side..
