When developing icalendar, I have a look at who returns to open more PRs.
Generally, I would like people to be happy to contribute again and also in different ways, so that they can merge PRs, because they understand what it required.
I compiled a list of contributors with gh-community. You can find it at the bottom.
Obviously, the task cannot be automated and should not be fully automated because it is about human connection. Having some data helps to know what to focus on.
Analysis: Merged PRs
Showing 14 of 745 contributors.
For reproducing it:
We have a few new names here: Priyanshu-pulak, Solaris-star, Morningstar202604, bohuis686-creator, burakeyler, josemmiranda04, kudala-bharani
They all created more than 1 merged PRs.
What we can see is that without giving a nudge, they would not think of reviewing.
Analysis Comments/reviews
Showing 13 of 745 contributors.
The review feature is used after on-boarding.
It also looks like that onboarding correlates with issue reviews/comments - which is good. That means, we are on track.
Analysis: potential new reviewers
Showing 7 of 745 contributors.
The contributors listed above seem potential candidates. I will need to think a bit more about how to find some.
Summary
We have a lot of open PRs. It is good to get them merged, re-engage and then have a look again who is contributing.
What are you looking for when you try to find contributors who can potentially stay around a bit longer?
