fix(SOL-420): stackone-connectors - update stale StackOne docs links and catalogue guidance (#43)
* fix(SOL-420): stackone-connectors - update stale docs links and catalogue guidance
- route actions/auth questions to the StackOne connector page
- connectors API table (list, get connector, get connector action)
- drop category-overview.md (dead + legacy links) and per-provider counts
- connector-building overview replaces connectors/add-new
- llms.txt fallback + contact support when docs are silent
- postman link, mcp inspector headers note
- skill version 2.1

* fix(SOL-420): scope .md rule, release stage only when not GA
- .md suffix only for urls not already ending in .md; llms.txt as is
- connectors list carries release stage only for non-GA entries

# StackOne Connectors — Integration Discovery
12
12
13
13
## Important
14
14
15
15
Connector availability changes frequently as StackOne adds new providers. Before answering:
16
-
1. Fetch `https://docs.stackone.com/connectors/introduction` for the current connector list
17
-
2. For specific provider capabilities, fetch the relevant category API reference
16
+
1. Fetch `https://docs.stackone.com/connectors/introduction.md` for the current connector list. Each entry carries the connector's `key`, name, categories and action count, plus its release stage when it isn't generally available
17
+
2. For a specific provider, fetch its StackOne connector page (e.g. `https://docs.stackone.com/connectors/workday/index.md`). It lists that connector's actions, authentication methods and setup guides
18
18
19
-
Never assume a connector exists or doesn't exist without checking live docs.
19
+
Never assume a connector exists or doesn't exist without checking live docs. The connectors list only confirms a connector exists. For its actions or authentication methods, read its StackOne connector page, not the provider's own API documentation.
20
+
21
+
When fetching a `docs.stackone.com` page whose URL doesn't already end in `.md`, append `.md` to get it as markdown. `llms.txt` is already plain text, so fetch it as is.
22
+
23
+
**If any URL in this skill returns 404, or a page doesn't cover what you need** (StackOne reorganizes its docs from time to time):
24
+
- Fetch `https://docs.stackone.com/llms.txt`, which indexes every docs page by title and description. Its "Connectors" section lists one page per connector by provider name, plus that connector's changelog and authentication guides. Use the URL listed there.
25
+
- If neither the connector page nor the index covers the question (for example, a provider-side setting, or an arrangement with the provider), say the docs don't cover it and suggest contacting StackOne support. Don't invent an answer.

## Instructions
22
28
23
29
### Step 1: Identify the user's integration need
24
30
25
31
Common patterns:
26
-
-**"What providers do you support for X?"** → Check the category on the connectors page
27
-
-**"Can I do Y with provider Z?"** → Check the provider's supported actions in the API reference
32
+
-**"What providers do you support for X?"** → Filter the connectors list by category
33
+
-**"Can I do Y with provider Z?"** → Fetch provider Z's connector page and check its actions
28
34
-**"Recommend an integration for my use case"** → Match the use case to a category, then list available providers
35
+
-**"Can I list connectors or actions from code?"** → Use the API (see Step 3)
29
36
30
-
### Step 2: Look up connector availability
37
+
### Step 2: Find the provider's connector page
31
38
32
-
Fetch `https://docs.stackone.com/connectors/introduction` for the full, current list.
39
+
Find the provider in the connectors list or in the "Connectors" section of `llms.txt` and use the page URL listed there. The connector key is not always the provider's everyday name (SAP ERP is listed as SAP S/4HANA, for example), so look the page up rather than building the URL from a guess.
33
40
34
-
Consult `references/category-overview.md` for a snapshot of categories and example providers. But always verify against live docs since new connectors are added regularly.
41
+
Search by the provider's official name and by its parent company's name. A provider may be listed under a product name the user didn't use.
35
42
36
43
### Step 3: Check available actions for a provider
37
44
38
-
Each connector exposes its own set of provider-specific actions. Action counts vary significantly — Salesforce has 370+ actions, HubSpot has 100+, while smaller providers may have a handful.
3. For action details, fetch `https://docs.stackone.com/platform/api-reference/actions/make-an-rpc-call-to-an-action`
45
+
Read the Actions section of the provider's connector page. Action counts vary widely between providers, so take the list from the page rather than estimating it.
44
46
45
47
Actions are named `{provider}_{operation}_{entity}` (e.g., `bamboohr_list_employees`, `salesforce_get_contact`).
46
48
49
+
To list connectors and actions from code instead of the docs, for example to build a catalogue in the user's own product, use the Connectors API:

| One action's inputs and result |`https://docs.stackone.com/platform/api-reference/v2/connectors/get-connector-action.md`|
56

57
### Step 4: Execute actions via the Actions API
48
58
49
59
All actions are executed through StackOne's Actions API:

AI agents typically call actions via the SDK or MCP rather than raw API calls — see the `stackone-agents` skill for SDK/MCP integration.

Fetch `https://docs.stackone.com/platform/api-reference/actions/make-an-rpc-call-to-an-action` for the full RPC reference.

### Step 5: Test before building

68
-
-**MCP Inspector**: `npx @modelcontextprotocol/inspector https://api.stackone.com/mcp` — test via MCP
69
-
-**Postman**: importable collection available from the docs
77
+
-**Playground**: try actions in natural language before writing code. Fetch `https://docs.stackone.com/embed/call-actions/troubleshooting/playground.md`
78
+
-**MCP Inspector**: `npx @modelcontextprotocol/inspector https://api.stackone.com/mcp` — test via MCP. Add the `Authorization` and `x-account-id` headers in the Inspector UI before connecting (see `https://docs.stackone.com/embed/call-actions/mcp/troubleshooting.md`)
