AnymeX Terms of Service and Disclaimer

Introduction

Welcome to AnymeX, a multiservice tracking client designed exclusively for managing and tracking anime, manga, novels, movies, and series through integration with the official APIs of AniList, MyAnimeList (MAL), and Simkl. These Terms of Service ("ToS") and Disclaimer govern your use of AnymeX. By using AnymeX, you agree to comply with these terms and conditions. If you disagree, please do not use the app.

AnymeX is developed and maintained by Ryan Yuuki ("the Developer"). This document outlines the scope of AnymeX's functionality, user responsibilities, and disclaimers regarding third-party services and content.

Scope of AnymeX

AnymeX is a client application designed solely for tracking anime, manga, novels, movies, and series by connecting to the official APIs of AniList, MyAnimeList, and Simkl. It provides a user interface to access, view, and manage your tracking data hosted by these third-party services.

AnymeX does not:

  • Host, provide, distribute, maintain, endorse, or facilitate access to any streaming content, media, or third-party extensions, including but not limited to content from licensed providers such as Crunchyroll, Funimation, Netflix, Hulu, HIDIVE, or any other streaming platforms.
  • Store, collect, or process personal information beyond what is required for authentication with supported third-party services (AniList, MyAnimeList, Simkl).
  • Facilitate, manage, or promote access to any content, repositories, modules, or extensions outside the official APIs of AniList, MyAnimeList, and Simkl.

AnymeX is strictly a tracking tool and does not provide or enable access to any copyrighted material or streaming services. Any interaction with licensed content must be conducted through legitimate platforms like Crunchyroll, Funimation, Netflix, Hulu, HIDIVE, or other authorized providers, in compliance with their terms of service.

Third-Party Services and Data Sources

AnymeX integrates with a number of third-party services and APIs to enhance its functionality. These integrations are used solely for informational, tracking, and enrichment purposes. AnymeX does not claim ownership of any data provided by these services. By using AnymeX, you agree to comply with the terms of service of each applicable third-party service listed below.

Tracking Platforms

AnymeX connects to the following services for core tracking functionality:

  • AniList: Anime, manga, and novel tracking
  • MyAnimeList: Anime, manga and novel tracking
  • Simkl: Movie, series, and anime tracking

Anime & Manga Metadata

AnymeX uses the following services to retrieve supplementary metadata and enrichment data:

  • LiveChart: Used to retrieve dubbed anime information and anime cover images
  • AnimeSchedule: Used to retrieve dubbed anime scheduling information
  • MangaBaka: Used to retrieve anime adaptation details for manga and light novel entries, as well as manga and novel news
  • MangaUpdates: Used in conjunction with MangaBaka API for next chapter release date prediction data
  • Chiaki: Used to retrieve anime watch order information
  • AnimeThemes: Used to retrieve anime opening and ending theme information
  • AniSkip: Used to retrieve episode intro, outro, and recap timestamps

AI Recommendations

  • Sprout Anime Recommender: Used to power personalized anime recommendations, working in conjunction with native AniList and MyAnimeList services

News

  • Kuroiru: Used to retrieve the latest anime news
  • MangaBaka: Also used to retrieve the latest manga and novel news

Book & Novel Discovery

  • Google Books: Used in the barcode scanner feature to look up books and novels
  • OpenLibrary: Used in the barcode scanner feature as a supplementary book data source

Novel Reader

  • Dictionary API: Used in the novel reader to retrieve word definitions and linguistic information

Social Features

  • Watch Together (Watchium): Real-time synchronized watching feature powered by Watchium. Used to coordinate playback, episode sync, and in-room chat among users. See the Watch Together (Watchium) section below for details.
  • Comments (Commentum v2): Built-in comments system powered by a third-party backend service. See the Comments System & Comment Policy section below for details.

All third-party services are accessed solely for the purposes described above. AnymeX does not control, operate, or take responsibility for the availability, accuracy, or content of these third-party services. Use of data provided by these services is subject to their respective terms of service and privacy policies.

User Responsibilities

By using AnymeX, you agree to:

  • Use the app solely for its intended purpose of tracking anime, manga, novels, movies, and series via official integrations with AniList, MyAnimeList, and Simkl.
  • Comply with the terms of service, privacy policies, and API usage guidelines of AniList, MyAnimeList, Simkl, and all other third-party services listed in the Third-Party Services and Data Sources section, as well as the terms of service of any licensed streaming platforms (e.g., Crunchyroll, Funimation, Netflix, Hulu, HIDIVE) you access independently.
  • Be solely responsible for your use of the app, including any interactions with third-party services, repositories, modules, or content accessed outside of AnymeX.
  • Ensure your use of AnymeX and any third-party services complies with all applicable local, national, and international laws, including copyright, intellectual property, and Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) regulations.

You acknowledge that:

  • AnymeX is a tool for interacting with the official APIs of AniList, MyAnimeList, and Simkl, and you are responsible for all activity associated with your accounts on these services.
  • Any misuse of AnymeX, including unauthorized access to content, use of third-party extensions, repositories, or modules, is your sole responsibility. The Developer disclaims all liability for such actions or any resulting legal issues, including DMCA claims.
  • Any legal concerns, including DMCA claims, related to content accessed through third-party services, repositories, or modules must be directed to those services or their respective creators, not AnymeX or the Developer.

Comments System & Comment Policy

AnymeX includes a built-in comments system powered by a third-party backend service (Commentum v2) to allow users to discuss anime, manga, novels, movies, and series.

How Comment Data Is Handled

When you use the comments feature, the following information is processed and stored by the comment backend:

  • Your platform user ID (from AniList, MAL, or Simkl)
  • Your username
  • Your profile avatar URL
  • The comments you post
  • Votes (upvotes/downvotes) on comments
  • Associated media information (ID, title, type, poster, year)

AnymeX does NOT store:

  • Your authentication tokens
  • Your passwords
  • Browsing history
  • Watch history
  • Personal data beyond what is listed above

The comment system includes moderation features such as reporting, muting, banning, content filtering, and rate limiting to maintain a safe environment.

Comment Rules

  1. NO RACISM, DISCRIMINATION, OR HATE SPEECH
  2. NO SPAMMING OR SELF-PROMOTION
  3. ABSOLUTELY NO NSFW CONTENT
  4. ENGLISH ONLY – NO EXCEPTIONS
  5. NO IMPERSONATION, HARASSMENT, OR ABUSE
  6. NO ILLEGAL CONTENT OR EXTREME DISRESPECT TOWARDS ANY FANDOM
  7. DO NOT REQUEST OR SHARE REPOSITORIES/EXTENSIONS
  8. SPOILERS ALLOWED ONLY WITH SPOILER TAGS AND A WARNING
  9. NO SEXUALIZING OR INAPPROPRIATE COMMENTS ABOUT MINOR CHARACTERS
  10. IF IT'S WRONG, DON'T POST IT!

Failure to follow these rules may result in comment deletion, temporary restrictions, or permanent bans from the commenting system.

Moderation & Enforcement

AnymeX reserves the right to:

  • Remove comments that violate these rules
  • Mute, restrict, or ban users from commenting
  • Lock comment threads when necessary
  • Take action without prior notice in cases of severe violations

All moderation decisions are final.

Watch Together (Watchium)

AnymeX includes a Watch Together feature powered by Watchium that allows users to create or join synchronized viewing rooms. Users can watch content together in real time with episode sync, server sync, and in-room chat.

How Watch Together Data Is Handled

When you use the Watch Together feature, the following information is processed and stored by Watchium:

  • Your platform user ID (from AniList, MAL, or Simkl)
  • Your username
  • Your profile avatar URL
  • Chat messages you send within rooms
  • Room metadata (room code, anime/episode information, playback state for sync purposes, member list)
  • Room settings (sync mode, password-protected rooms)

AnymeX does NOT store:

  • Your authentication tokens
  • Your passwords
  • Your video playback URLs or streaming sources
  • Your watch history or progress
  • Your IP address
  • Personal data beyond what is listed above

Room data (chat messages, room state) is stored temporarily by Watchium for the purpose of real-time synchronization and may be purged at any time without notice.

Watch Together Room Rules

The following rules apply to all Watch Together rooms and in-room interactions:

  1. COMMENT RULES APPLY — All 10 rules from the Comments System & Comment Policy (no racism, no spam, no NSFW, English only, no harassment, no illegal content, no minor sexualization, spoiler tags, etc.) apply fully to all chat messages sent within Watch Together rooms.

  2. NO ROOM CODE SPAM — Do not spam, flood, or mass-distribute room codes in public spaces (Discord, Telegram, Reddit, etc.) to harass, raid, or overwhelm other users or rooms.

  3. NO INAPPROPRIATE ROOM NAMES — Do not create rooms with titles or descriptions containing hate speech, slurs, explicit content, or misleading information (e.g., impersonating staff or official rooms).

  4. NO BYPASSING ROOM RESTRICTIONS — Do not attempt to bypass room passwords, member limits, or host-only controls through exploits, alternate accounts, or any other means.

  5. HOST ABUSE — Hosts must not abuse their powers. This includes repeatedly kicking members without reason, locking rooms to harass others, or using host controls to intentionally disrupt the viewing experience.

  6. NO COORDINATING VIOLATIONS — Do not use Watch Together rooms to coordinate, plan, or facilitate any activity that violates AnymeX's Terms of Service or applicable law.

  7. RESPECT THE VIEWING EXPERIENCE — Do not intentionally disrupt synchronized playback (e.g., repeatedly switching episodes, spamming server changes, or exploiting sync mechanics to desync other members).

  8. NO SHARING RESTRICTED CONTENT IN CHAT — Do not share links to pirated content, illegal material, or repositories/extensions in room chat. This is equivalent to Comment Rule 7.

  9. TEMPORARY ROOM DATA — Users acknowledge that all room data (chat messages, room state, member lists) is stored temporarily by Watchium and may be deleted at any time without notice. Do not rely on room chat for permanent communication.

  10. HOST RESPONSIBILITY — The room host is expected to maintain a reasonably appropriate environment. AnymeX may intervene if a host's room is used for repeated violations, regardless of the host's own actions.

Watch Together Moderation & Enforcement

AnymeX reserves the right to:

  • Remove users from rooms for violating these rules
  • Temporarily or permanently ban users from the Watch Together feature
  • Disband rooms that are used for repeated or severe violations
  • Take action without prior notice in cases of severe violations

Failure to follow these rules may result in removal from rooms, temporary Watch Together restrictions, permanent Watch Together bans, or full app restrictions depending on severity. All moderation decisions are final.

DMCA Compliance

AnymeX is designed to be fully compliant with the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) and other applicable copyright laws. As a tracking tool, AnymeX does not host, distribute, or provide access to any copyrighted content. Any content accessed by users must be obtained through legitimate, licensed platforms such as Crunchyroll, Funimation, Netflix, Hulu, HIDIVE, or other authorized providers. If you believe that any content accessed through third-party services, repositories, or modules violates your copyright, please direct DMCA notices or legal inquiries to the respective service providers or content hosts, not AnymeX or the Developer. AnymeX does not control, endorse, or facilitate access to such content.

Privacy Statement

AnymeX prioritizes your privacy and does not collect or store personal information on our servers. Here's how your data is handled:

  • Authentication Tokens: AnymeX uses authentication tokens to connect to AniList, MyAnimeList, and Simkl APIs for tracking functionality. These tokens are stored securely on your device only and are never transmitted to or stored on our servers.
  • Third-Party Services: Authentication and data processing are handled by the APIs of AniList, MyAnimeList, and Simkl. AnymeX does not access, store, or process your login credentials or personal information beyond facilitating these API connections. Please review the privacy policies of these services:
  • Supplementary Data Services: AnymeX integrates with additional third-party services (LiveChart, AnimeSchedule, MangaBaka API, MangaUpdates, Chiaki, AnimeThemes, AniSkip, Sprout Anime Recommender, Kuroiru, Google Books, OpenLibrary, and Dictionary API) solely to retrieve informational data such as metadata, schedules, news, recommendations, and word definitions. AnymeX does not transmit personal data to these services beyond what is technically necessary for the data request (e.g., a media ID or search query). Please review the privacy policies of each respective service for further information.
  • Watch Together (Watchium): When using the Watch Together feature, your platform user ID, username, and avatar URL are transmitted to Watchium for room functionality (sync, chat, member management). Chat messages you send are stored by Watchium for the duration of the room session. AnymeX does not transmit your authentication tokens, passwords, IP address, or video playback URLs to Watchium.
  • No Interaction with Streaming Platforms: AnymeX does not integrate with or store data related to streaming platforms like Crunchyroll, Funimation, Netflix, Hulu, or HIDIVE. Any interaction with these platforms is outside the scope of AnymeX and subject to their respective privacy policies.
  • Crash Reports and Analytics: AnymeX does not collect crash reports or analytics data. If this changes in the future, we will update this document and provide options to opt out where applicable.

We implement industry-standard security measures to ensure authentication tokens are stored securely on your device. AnymeX does not sell, share, or transfer your information to third parties, except as required by law or to facilitate core tracking functionality through the integrated services.

Disclaimer

AnymeX is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. The Developer makes no representations or warranties regarding:

  • The accuracy, availability, or reliability of third-party services (AniList, MyAnimeList, Simkl, LiveChart, AnimeSchedule, MangaBaka API, MangaUpdates, Chiaki, AnimeThemes, AniSkip, Sprout Anime Recommender, Kuroiru, Google Books, OpenLibrary, Dictionary API) or licensed streaming platforms (e.g., Crunchyroll, Funimation, Netflix, Hulu, HIDIVE).
  • The legality, suitability, or copyright status of content accessed through third-party services, repositories, modules, or extensions.
  • The uninterrupted or error-free operation of AnymeX.

The Developer disclaims all liability for:

  • Any misuse of AnymeX, including but not limited to accessing unauthorized content or using third-party extensions, repositories, or modules.
  • Legal issues, including DMCA claims or intellectual property disputes, arising from your use of third-party services, repositories, modules, or content accessed outside of AnymeX's tracking functionality.
  • Any damages, losses, or liabilities resulting from your use of AnymeX, including but not limited to data loss, device issues, or legal consequences.

Users are solely responsible for directing legal concerns, including DMCA claims, to the relevant third-party services, repositories, or module creators, not AnymeX or the Developer.

Your Rights

Under applicable data protection laws (e.g., GDPR, CCPA), you may have rights to access, modify, or request deletion of data associated with your use of third-party services. As AnymeX does not store personal data on our servers, any such requests should be directed to AniList, MyAnimeList, or Simkl, as applicable. For assistance or inquiries about AnymeX, contact the Developer (details below).

Intellectual Property

AnymeX is licensed under the MIT License. See the LICENSE file for details. AnymeX does not own, claim ownership of, or facilitate access to any content provided by AniList, MyAnimeList, Simkl, or licensed streaming platforms like Crunchyroll, Funimation, Netflix, Hulu, or HIDIVE. All content accessed through these services is subject to the respective terms, policies, and copyright protections of those services.

Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms of Service and Disclaimer from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page, accompanied by an updated "Last Updated" date. Your continued use of AnymeX after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
