docs/QE_ROADMAP: verify the parse anchors against the real QE 6.7 binary
The Debian packages are installed, so a real pw.x scf run was done (silicon, ibrav=2, 4x4x4 Monkhorst-Pack, the packaged Si.pbe-n-rrkjus_psl.1.0.0.UPF; deck and output kept at ~/ecce-test-logs/qe/). Every parse anchor this roadmap had quoted from the 7.5 documentation appears verbatim in real 6.7 output -- total energy, forces, stress, SCF iterations, k-point count -- so the 6.7-vs-7.5 version gap does not affect the core ones. Those statements are now binary-verified rather than documentation-derived. Two practical findings recorded: - The .edml parse verifypattern should be "Program PWSCF", not a version string: the banner reads "Program PWSCF v.6.7MaX starts on ...", so anchoring on the version would break on every upgrade. - ATOMIC_SPECIES needs the pseudopotential filename, and the packaged names are long and functional-specific (Si.pbe-n-rrkjus_psl.1.0.0.UPF). That settles the UI question: a per-element combo populated by scanning pseudo_dir, because nobody will type those correctly and picking the wrong functional family silently gives a physically inconsistent calculation. si_scf.out is a ready first fixture for tests/parsers when phase 2 starts. **3. Now verified against the real installed binary.** The Debian
148+
packages were installed and a real `pw.x` scf run completed (silicon,
149+
`ibrav=2`, 4×4×4 Monkhorst–Pack, the packaged
150+
`Si.pbe-n-rrkjus_psl.1.0.0.UPF`; deck and output kept at
151+
`~/ecce-test-logs/qe/si_scf.{in,out}`). **Every parse anchor this
152+
roadmap quoted from documentation appears verbatim in real 6.7 output**,
153+
so the version gap does not affect the core ones:
154+
155+
| Anchor | Real 6.7 output |
156+
|---|---|
157+
| Total energy | `! total energy = -22.82211442 Ry` |
158+
| Forces | `Forces acting on atoms (cartesian axes, Ry/au):` |
159+
| Stress | `total stress (Ry/bohr**3) (kbar) P= ...` |
160+
| SCF iterations | `iteration # 1 ecut= 18.00 Ry beta= 0.70` |
161+
| k-points | `number of k points= 8` |
162+
163+
Two practical notes that follow:
164+
165+
- **`<Output type="parse" verifypattern="...">` should be
166+
`Program PWSCF`**, not a version string: the banner reads
167+
`Program PWSCF v.6.7MaX starts on ...`, so anchoring on the version
168+
would break on every upgrade. (Compare MOPAC, where `MOPAC v` was
169+
safe because the name and `v` are adjacent.)
170+
- **The pseudopotential in `ATOMIC_SPECIES` must be the filename**, and
171+
the packaged names are long and functional-specific
172+
(`Si.pbe-n-rrkjus_psl.1.0.0.UPF`). This confirms a per-element combo
173+
populated by scanning `pseudo_dir` is the right UI: nobody will type
174+
those correctly, and picking the wrong functional family silently
175+
gives a physically inconsistent calculation.
176+
177+
`~/ecce-test-logs/qe/si_scf.out` is a ready first fixture for
178+
`tests/parsers/` when phase 2 starts.
